Chosen from more than 200 franchises nationwide, Australia’s best carpet cleaners are locals John and Teresa Peacock from Chem-Dry Far North Coast NSW. The award ceremony took place in August at Chem-Dry Australia’s national convention at Hotel Novotel in Cairns.

“This fantastic accolade took us completely by surprise” John said. “With so many other talented franchisees in the network, we didn’t think we’d be nominated”. His wife and co-worker Teresa agrees: “We just stared at each other when our name was called out. But it’s truly a wonderful feeling to be recognised and know that your work is being appreciated”.

Australian Franchise of the Year is Chem-Dry’s most prestigious prize and is awarded every second year. The winning franchise is not necessarily the biggest in the country. However, it demonstrates excellence, a high retention rate of customers and compliance with Australian Standards.

Chem-Dry Far North Coast is not new to prizes and awards. John and Teresa won Lennox Head Chamber of Commerce’s prize for Trade in 2010 and Home Based Business 2011. Chem-Dry Australia nominated them for Restorer of the Year 2010 for their fire and flood restoration work, notably the Casino storm -09, the Northern Rivers flood -09 and the Lennox Head tornado -10.

Providing non-toxic and quick-drying carpet and upholstery cleans since 2008, the Peacocks are now getting ready for their high season. “Splendour in the Grass usually means a wake up from the winter slumber for our local customers” Teresa said. “This year we spent 3 days after the festival cleaning nothing but muddy carpets”, John added.
